What Is It?

  • Creating a predictable instructional routine that gradually shifts learning responsibility to students
  • Incorporating structures for learning including mini-lessons, independent work time, and reflection
  • Differentiating instruction and scaffolding support based on individual student needs
  • Directing instruction from all areas around the classroom, especially side-by-side with students
  • Providing students the opportunity to work independently, on their level with a clear focus

Establish a workshop structure including mini-lessons, independent and small group work time, and debriefing
