John Hattie, author and educational researcher, suggests that the greatest influence on student learning is having "expert, inspired, and passionate teachers and school leaders working together to maximize the effect of their teaching on all students in their care." Our collaborative team focus is to grow every child specifically in the area of literacy. Reading, vocabulary, and writing skills are boundless areas for improvement and are necessary skill sets for success in today's changing world.

Additionally, LPS recognizes the importance of professional learning specific to the needs of each content area. Content-specific PD occurs on a rotating cycle prior to curriculum resource adoption. The disciplines participating in PD during the 2016-2017 school year include International Languages 8-12 and Physical Education K-12.

George Couros, author and educational consultant, writes, "Innovation is a new way of thinking about teaching and learning." Liberty Public Schools is continually investigating best teaching and learning practices to prepare all learners for a changing world. The current focus for professional development includes utilization of Open Educational Resources and Project Based Learning to enhance instructional design.
